Pay in wellbeing services counties

The compensation paid in wellbeing services counties comprises a job-specific pay, the potential personal bonus, work experience bonus and a performance bonus. In addition to these, there are other components, such as one-time bonuses and financial recruitment support, language bonus and remote areas allowance.

The general collective agreement of the health care and social services sector, i.e. the SOTE agreement determines the minimum (base) pay for each job that has to be paid to the employee. However, often the job-specific pay is higher than the basic pay determined in the level of salaries.

The difficulty of work assignments is one basis for determining pay. Job-specific pay is paid, as stated in the name, based on a job’s demandingness. To assess the difficulty level of a job, the employer and the staff representatives have worked together to create a difficulty assessment system for different jobs and positions.

Work experience bonus in wellbeing services counties

The basis of an experience bonus is the years of service. The experience bonus is 3% of the job-specific pay after five valid years of service and 8% of the job-specific pay after ten valid years of service.

Time in the service of another employer in a position that benefits the employee’s current duties in some essential way is also included in the years of service entitling the employee to an experience bonus. The title used in the work of a practical nurse, such as instructor, does not count here; working in the same professional field is considered valuable. This change in interpretation is applied to employment relationships started on 1st June 2015 or later.

What counts towards an experience bonus?

  1. public service employment relationship or employment relationship with the wellbeing services county in question (all work performed for the employer in question)
  2. time in the service of another employer in a position that benefits the employee’s current duties in some essential way
  3. entrepreneurial operations that benefit the employee’s current duties in some essential way.
