Student membership

Student membership is completely free from the day of joining until the day of graduation, regardless of the form of study.

You can become a student member if you are studying for a degree in social and health care, or education and guidance, to become e.g. a practical nurse, children’s instructor or an instrument technician.

Join as a student member

  • Legal protection and liability insurances. The insurances are valid during internships and work, including internships abroad.
  • Leisure accident insurance.
  • Member get-togethers and events, where members receive up-to-date information and network with other students and professionals.
  • If needed, assistance from the union’s lawyers and other experts is available for you.
  • Skarppi online training offers a diverse selection of short micro-courses as well as longer ones that can be completed at your own pace.
  • Membership in the Unemployment Fund. Apply for membership in the fund when joining. By providing your employment information, you will become a member of the fund.
Membership benefits

Activate your membership in the Super Unemployment Fund and accumulate the employment requirement when working while studying. Membership in the Super Unemployment Fund is free for student members, as SuPer pays the membership fee on your behalf. The employment requirement begins to accumulate at the earliest at the age of 18.

An apprentice student is under employment and while a member of the unemployment fund, they accumulate employement requirement.

Apply for membership

Apply for your membership in the Super Unemployment Fund while applying to join the union. You can authorize Super to terminate any previous membership in another fund. The termination will be done only after you have been accepted as a member of the Super Unemployment Fund.

Activate your membership

Activate your membership in the unemployment fund by reporting your employment in the Oma SuPer service.

Information:

If you are a student member of SuPer and are about to graduate with a secondary-level degree in social services, healthcare, education, or guidance, update your information and join SuPer as a regular member.

Student membership does not automatically transition to regular membership. You can apply for regular membership toward the end of your studies when you know your graduation date.

Graduating student, update your membership to regular membership in the Oma Super service.

If you are already a regular member of SuPer and are graduating with another degree, you can report your new qualification details in the Oma SuPer service.
