Service increment

A service increment is based on the years of service. You can get the increment after working a certain amount of time under the same employer. Work for other employers in the same professional field or work that gives an essential advantage to your current role also counts towards the service increment. Entrepreneurial operations that give an essential advantage to the employee’s current duties can also accumulate the increment.

The rate of accumulation and the amount of the increment vary depending on the collective agreement applied.

In the public sector (SOTE, HYVTES, KVTES agreements), the service increment is

  • 3% after five years and
  • 8% after ten years.

The collective agreement of the private social service sector states that an employee’s basic pay increases based on a separate pay table after they have accumulated work experience for five, eight and eleven years.

Personal increment

A personal increment is an increment included in the pay, the basis of which are personal work performance, professional competence and other locally determined criteria.

Availability increment

Availability increment is employed especially in the public sector for roles which are difficult to fill. This is usually a fixed-term increment.
