Notice of dismissal

The notification on ending the employment contract must be delivered to the other contract party in person.

If this is not possible, the notification can also be delivered as a letter or electronically. If the notification is submitted otherwise than in person (by letter or electronically), the notification will be considered to be received on the seventh day after it has been sent.

The party terminating the agreement bears the burden of evidence as to the causes of the termination, which is why the notice of termination should be made in writing.

Before an employer terminates or cancels and employment contract, the employer must provide the employee a chance of being heard regarding the reasons of ending the employment contract. The employee has the right to have the shop steward or the occupational safety and health representative present in the meeting as their support person.
