Carried-over holidays
During the holiday credit year, from 1 April to 31 March, employees accrue leave that is taken out during the following summer and winter. However, an employee may wish to save a portion of their accrued holiday days for later. These saved days are called carried-over holidays.
Both the Annual Holidays Act and the collective agreements have regulations on carried-over holidays.
An employee covered by the SOTE, HYVTES or KVTES agreement can save a portion of their holiday exceeding 15 annual holiday days, upon a separate agreement between the employee and employer. An employee and employer agree together on the time of using carried-over holidays.
